The detail on this car made it a clear choice for top car at VolksWorld 2012
Before Dubtricks got hold of this T4, Pumpkin was a yellow airport transfer bus. Now a trophy winner in the T4/T5 at category at BusFreeze!
April 2012. This pic was taken by our friends AirKooled Kustoms during the fun they had at this USA based VW Show.
This 1972 1300 sedan from the Netherlands runs on normal petrol and LPG. The front is lowered with dropped spindles..MOMO millenium steering wheel and bucket seats from a 1969 Simca 1000 rally II - looks fab Andre, hope to see it in the UK sometime!
Betsy is our 1969 1200 VW Beetle, she has recently had a respray and has lots more things planned...
This was finished early 2011 and went on to win a show and shine trophy at Bus Types - can you tell his owner John is a prefessional photographer?
We had a great time - so we'll share some pics from the weekend.
Pretty much every panel was replaced on this Splitscreen owned by Old School Wedding Hire.
Great looking veedub we think - so we thought you might want to see it too.
This shot is by Kate as she tried her hand at getting that perfect shot of campervans - watch think?.
This 1963 RHD walkthrough was fully restored by Dubtricks in Harrogate and went on to be a show winner!
A new friend from Harrogate who we met on the 'BIG FAT TOUR 2011' has introduced us to his Beetle. He's promised us more pictures as he continues to work on his projects so watch this space.
Restored a few years ago and the paint was specially designed by the owner as there was no colour in the world that was just right!
Can't tell you how nice it is to have a Karman in our group. Beautiful car.
Here's a member of the York Vw club arriving.
Painted in a blend of pearl yellow, orange and red to look like a sunset - because there was a business card under the dash from Sunset Boulevard, California!
Here we are having a chat before heading to the pub.
This bad boy baja can serve a tennis ball higher and faster than John McEnroe. Don't believe me? Join the club.
Recently reSprayed and looking cool in his shade of blue - our friend Victor (the camperVan) sits patiently until we drove off to our meeting point.
As we awaited the arrival of other members of the group, we thought-why not have yet more pics of our members camperVans.
This volkswagen keeps looking better each time we see it. Looking good Colin; ...until next cruise pal.
We recently visited a Veedub drag race event, and Kate & I watched this beauty do the quarter mile run in 16 seconds - kitchen sink and all still in it.
This picture was taken at one of the stops during July 2011's Big Fat Tour. Betsy you know, golf girl you know and here's Matty's T4
This beauty we spotted in York. The owner says he's planning on making this bug a street only version, so it's racing days may be over soon. We think it's a beauty however it's running.
We were going for the classic dubs-in-a-line shot, and got it (with a VW Trekker twist). The foremost Beetle is from Aircooled Performance; nice group of people with whom we're anxious to keep working with. Cheers for the pic Darren.
Hey, how'd this picture sneek in? ...errm, well I guess I just can't resist getting a nice burn-out shot. Any takers for a bet on this dodges quarter mile time versus the yellow campervan? Tell me on our forum page.
Once we'd all parked up, it was time for another round of parking-lot banter before heading inside for refreshments and a proper dub chat.
Restored 20 years later - no expense spared, I think the last penny went on this and she then had to go to a nice new home in Ilkley.
We think this is a fine specimen of a splitscreen...Ocho got all smashed up on the ship coming over from Uraguay then Iain made a start by doing all the welding himself.
Here's a cool guy with a cool van. We snapped this one as we waited in the parking lot before going on a cruise with the gang. cheers pal.
This picture is sent in by a member of our online forum community - We're looking forward to meeting up with 'golf-girl' at the next York classic Vws event.
Zippy is the orange beetle in the fore-front of this picture. He's from our dub-on-the-wold friends
This beauty is Felicity, a Brazilian T2 bay camper converted by Danbury. Just so you know, she's available for hire - we had her for a week & loved it; see our hire page for more information...Tell Paul, Kate & Kevin sent ya.
Keep up-to-date with our plans for a York classic vw festival event via our twitter and facebook chats.
As you may know already, we at YorkClassicVWS - love campervans. Can't wait for the next cruise with these guys.
This picture we snapped when we met up with members of 'Dubs on the Wolds'. Hey guys, looking forward to the next meet up - loved the cruise and vw cup-cakes.
Those local to York may have seen this one about - we won't give your name out mate, but see ya soon and hey, are you leading the cruise this time? you've got our number - chat soon.
Here's Betsy (the green & to be painted one) parked up with a new found friend. Taken 10th July 2011 as we visited the York RaceWay drag race meet. That yellow campervan also featured in this picture gallery was great to watch.
For some racers the light rain on race day meant a chance to sort out any minor pre-race issues.
When those vws present at the races did however race - wow, the sounds, the energy and the quarter mile dash.
Everything you need in a volkswagen..style, reliability, appeal and yes, you can write on it too. Cool ride James - ask about the exhaust system on this volks.
Here's more footage to satisfy our vw friends. Feel free to share it with others. And you can find more of our uploaded vw show videos by clicking on Our YouTube link below.
As any Beetle enthusiast is aware, the bug scene is extremely wide and varied.
On this site you will find definitions of the different looks like, the Euro look, German, Baja and so on. Want to hire one? We have a selection of VW hire companies in the UK, Spain, France and more being added constantly.
You don't need to be a hippie to own a Volkswagen Campervan.
The prices are a bit daunting i'll give you that, but as with so many things in life, if you put your mind and effort in it, you will reap a reward - bargins are still out there to be had.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...?
Here's another variation on a fantastic theme. If you own a VW Campervan, Beetle or any model, then find us on facebook and be a part of our ever growing online veedub community.
Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia performance and price reflected the values VW placed in its cornerstone product, the Beetle.
VW insisted the Karmann-Ghia's performance mirror that of the humble Bug. The Karmann-Ghia had a much smaller frontal area than the Beetle, and the originals could hit a top speed of around 72 mph, maybe 10 mph higher than the sedan. Acceleration was no faster: Both cars could consume up to 36 seconds reaching 60 mph from a stop.We can help. We recently met up with a fellow veedubber Iain, who came to the rescue with helping out on the very own Classic Volks 1969 vw Beetle by not only diagnosing
a fault with the braking, but also fixing it. Now as this is a vw Beetle we are talking about, not surprisingly, one thing led to another and we then found ourselves faced with a faulty oil light issue as well; but Classic volks would never recommend that you interfere with the vw electrical system as there is a high risk of creating a fire hazard - instead we let the experts at DubTricks help us out. You can find contact information from their website.
This pic is from Bug-a-Palüza 2012 VW show, East ridge, Tennessee, USA.
Popularly known in the UK as the 'Trekker', in the USA as the 'Thing' and in Mexico as the 'Safari' they started life as a small military vehicle produced from 1969 - 1983.
We've read that about 90,000 of these got built, mostly in Germany and Mexico. Bit of trivia for ya...the Body Style was typically a 4-door cabriolet, the engine is in the rear, and most engines were either 1.5 or 1.6L with a 4 speed manual transmission. The volkswagen Type 181 has a greater ride height compared to many of its relatives and features whats known as a 'portal axle'.
